Were we began and our plans for the future

THE STORY

Art Made This is a pioneering urban art initiative that has redefined cityscapes across Sweden by celebrating the work of women artists. Since its launch in 2015, more than 130 women have brought their creativity to prominent façades in cities including Gothenburg, Stockholm, Malmö, and Uppsala. Born out of a collaboration between curator Ali Davoodi and the socially responsible property company Vasakronan, the project is rooted in the belief that public spaces should be vibrant, inclusive, and reflective of the diversity within our communities. Its aim is to enrich the urban landscape, make cities more welcoming, and amplify women’s voices in the visual language of our shared environment. Art Made This is more than murals, it is a cultural movement sparking dialogue on equality, representation, and the role of art in city life. Each piece challenges norms, inspires future women artists, and transforms spaces, from industrial zones to historic streets, into open-air galleries woven into Europe’s wider conversation on art and diversity.

THE FUTURE

Building on this legacy in public space, we are introducing a new branch of Art Made This that extends its creative spirit. Led by a collective with solid experience in fashion, art, design, and events, this new chapter will take the form of a curated online shop and platform for art posters. Showcasing works by artists alongside selected collaborators, the platform will celebrate visual ideas and foster cross-disciplinary exchange, working with artists, brands, and cultural partners in ways that blur boundaries and spark new dialogues.

Just as the murals bring diversity and dialogue to the streets, this platform will carry those ideas into everyday life, evolving our mission from the local stage to a global arena where artists can share their work with audiences worldwide.
